Natural World – Donana

Situated in the delta of the Guadalquivir River, just south west of Seville, Doñana National Park is one of the world’s most valuable wetlands. The park’s marshlands, natural beaches, dune systems, woodlands and heaths provide a haven for six million migratory birds. Doñana is also home to one of the last surviving populations of the world’s most endangered cat species, the Iberian Lynx as well as other endangered species such as the Spanish Imperial Eagle. Andalucian Escapes have created a unique experience for all those lovers of nature and animal life who seek a holiday which combines relaxation, responsible leisure and an understanding of the natural environment.
Itinerary
Day One
Arrive at your chosen accommodation in the Doñana National Park, 50 minutes from Seville. We have accommodation to suit every budget, from self catering apartments to a luxury hotel. This particular package price included charming 3* accommodation. If time allows, your Donana experience starts today, alternatively enjoy your first night at your leisure.
Day Two
After enjoying a typical Andalusian breakfast, your Donana experience will start with a 4 hour guided tour of the park in an official 4×4 National Park vehicle, touring areas of the park that are not permissible to the general public. Maybe you will catch a glimpse of the resident flamingos, winter visitors from northern Europe or summer migrants from Africa?
This afternoon you will swap four wheels for four legs affording you a different perspective of the Park as you explore the beaches and dunes of Donana on horseback. If horse riding isn’t your thing we can arrange another activity such as golf or fishing.
Day Three
Today you will be enjoying a half day private tour with the services of a professional guide specialising in the local wildlife. You will learn secrets of how the many species coexist in this World Heritage Site. You can opt for the option of a picnic lunch during the tour.
This afternoon you are free to explore the Park. If you wish, we can arrange another activity for you.
Day four
Unfortunately today you will leave this stunning area but not before you have visited the Museum of Marine Life and gained an understanding of how the three unique ecosystems (dunes, wetland and scrub) and traditional fishing methods complement each other.
To expand your itinerary we have many activities to choose from. Maybe you would like to take a balloon ride, enjoy a private fishing day aboard a local boat, take a walking tour, unwind with a massage or enjoy a round of golf?
